Engine Oil Filter Housing Tight - Special Tool?

I’m tying to remove the Engine Oil Filter Housing for first time since Audi Factory service (PFL 8V). Housing appears super tight so wondering what forum members are using to grasp / turn the 15-flat Housing?
I suspect dealer apprentice got carried away with torque (25Nm?).
Is there a special tool, or at least a recommended strap, pliers, etc?? Hate to break the plastic canister.
Bloody dealers.
Many thanks,

I found a mate with a pair of these…
They worked superbly, though very pissed if with the dealer service as if the housing was tightened to 25Nm, it was 45!
Cheers and thanks,

I’ve a set of Unitool plastic filter “sockets”, including something like you show around dia. 3” and with 14 flats. Unfortunately the Audi filter case has 15 flats if I counted correctly…. which is open to question?? Especially if your tool fits just so.
I guess I’ve made it to 60 having never seen these “filter pliers”… but we can buy Downunder for A$15 which should do the trick as the do grab the bottom of the filter housing nicely. And now it has been loosened from the “dealer torque” we’ll be right.

I've made it to 60 by trying to use the correct tools (But at times not always been the case 🤦 ) The one i have was bought for use on a 1.9 PD engine which also fitted my old A3 3.2, i also have the tool you've shown which is fine when I've had nothing else to use but it does have it's limitations due to access also you can't torque it up correctly other than guesstimating 🤔
Glad you've sorted it all the same 👍

I’ve since found a tool just like yours (from our main non-OEM filter maker Ryco) for about £8.
That’ll be nice, and allow the application to the recommended torque .

I found the source of my confusion Dell. My Flotool has 15 flats, while the car has 14… Duh!

This is my actual filter tool glad you've found one👍
