Soon will be time to replace the rear brakes, I have seen some people have upgraded them to bigger discs etc.

What’s everyone running? Can anyone recommend anything?

Not sure there is that much point - the rear brakes arn't really doing that much compared to the 8 pot fronts.

On my previous 8p I used the 350mm Reylands to match the front Reyland configuration. Aesthetically much better but didn't see any day to day performance difference. No doubt some will come along and say the braking is flatter however. The discs are made and configured better, perform well and last longer, and just look proper compared to nasty oem, so worthwhile for those reasons if nothing else. A route I will deffo take on my FL when the time comes.

I was a frim believer & posted such in the past that bigger rears wasn't beneficial, but since fitting the Reyland 350mm I now back pedaling on that statement.

As Stephen has preempted me.....the RS does brake flatter with not so much weight transfer onto the front under very very hard braking to the point the rear end starts to move side 2 side !

The added bonus is they fill the wheels nicely but make cleaning inside them harder tho.

To match the front or look similar? Those rears are so weedy ;)

Thanks for the reply guys, one is for aesthetics tbh but also for better rear braking performance.

I’m happy with my standard 4 pots up front, might look at getting some rear drilled brakes from reyland if they are larger, fill my rotor nicely!

Anyone running rs6/rs7 brakes are the rear?

Bobby.

Reyland don't do crossed drilled discs due to the chance of cracking issues.

Dan has the RS7 wavy big rear discs on his 8v.

Ahhh! Hmm I wanted the matching crossed drilled.

I see MTec do some but they are standard size.

I’d love to get the wavy discs but I’d have to upgrade my fronts to 8pots just need to find some cheap!

I wouldn't go down the wavy disc route on the 8pots as those oem discs are being phased out for normal round one's.

I'm running the 8pots on my 8P but with J hook Reylands.

I will be going with the Reyald J hook disks when the time comes. Not sure about the rears unless I wanted the symetry although that day will come long after.  Still not sure about the fixed or floating options but will need to look into it nearer the time.

Steve.

If you don't already have them your need these to remove the rear caliper bracket.

Finally got round to fitting the vagbremtechnic kit to the rear of my RS3

fitted perfect even tho it said it was for car equipped with electronic handbrake

we will see how the upgrade performs as the pads bed in but they look the part anyway

Steve.

The 8P/8v use the same rear discs just the brake calipers/pads which are different mate.

Yh vagbremtechnic wasn’t sure if the brackets would work or not with the 8p chassis

but they do so it’s all good

no need to spend best part of £800 on rear discs when this cost me £230 with new s7 discs and Brembo pads
