Hi folks, I hope you are all well. I'm a newbie and will soon be starting out on my car for the first time. I have gone for a New Flex XCE (because I had a voucher from work) and Lake Country Force Pads. Now, the first car I am going to work on is a Nardo Grey Audi (2015), it has very light swirls from washing and drying only. Now I want to be as gentle on the clear coat as possible and remove as little if any as possible due to the light marring. My dilemma is the multitude of polishes out there, I do not have a clue what to go for. Some have mention Sonax Perfect Finish, but I feel that this might be too aggressive for what I need and take away more clear coat than I actually need to to get the final finish. I'm now left even more confused that when I started. Both cars a Silver Polo (2016) and the Audi have been well looked after and both have only light wash swirls, nothing that would require anything too aggressive. Your thoughts, views, experience and recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Nick

I’d recommend this for a simple 1 stage correction.

I have used the Sonax polishes and agree they are good. I think The Megs pro stuff is better though.

As you have a light coloured car and you want minimal removal of the clear coat, I’d recommend Autoglym Super Resin Polish. This will be very gentle on the clear coat and the mild fillers will hide the tiny swirls. Use a soft finishing pad and if that doesn’t remove what you need to then move to a medium pad and refine the finish with a soft pad at the end.

Then you can top it off with either a sealant or wax of your choice. I’d recommend wax as you can remove and apply it much easier than a sealant but it won’t last as long.
