I gave my car it’s first decent wash yesterday using my new foam canon and jet washer. I guess pre washing is good to protect paint but didn’t really save time or make a lot of different to my old conventional washing.

Anyway the biggest pain in the butt was cleaning the black trim and I am wondering if anyone has some good ideas for this, especially the front grill?

Thanks

I use my wheel brush on the front grill during snow foam stage. Helps to agitate the grime that gets caught in there. If it’s really crappy I will use citrus power prewash to get the ball rolling before the snow stage.
The black pano side trims are a real ball ache to keep swirl free, and these will more than likely need machine polishing again at some stage.
No matter how lightly I go on them they will swirl up again.

what do you use to polish the gloss black side trims? Standard polish used on paintwork or something special for plastic trim?

Thanks

I used a foam finishing da pad from lake country and schull finishing compound. It looked great at first but the swirls are coming back mate. The smaller bits I used just a microfibre cloth and the schull as I don’t have any pads small enough for these bits. The body work was hit with d300 megiaurs as I had less then 30hrs to do the job as the rain put play to this on the Easter weekend. Outside under a qezebo is not the one😂😂

Thanks!

Getting rid of those swirls is next on my list. Will have to do by hand though, haven't got a polisher yet.

Get some of these - they have both a cutting and finishing side -

I am using these until I figure out how to put my DAS6pro back together which, rather unhelpfully, fell apart in my hands last time I touched it.

Try using a quick detailer product when your drying the car I use Gtechniq QD on my first drying cloth and then lightly on the car when using my 2nd cloth
