Thanks very much mate. Have you had an update on yours yet?

Not yet, it's on train to port I believe. Hopefully in about two weeks max it should arrive to Belfast.

Mine sat on the docks for 9 days I think but only 2 days on the ship. It’s well worth the wait.😎

400 miles on the clock and I’m not regretting swapping with my R at all. To be honest the R probably felt more planted on corners with the full VWR suspension, but being able to choose the driving style is way better. Driving in comfort felt so good after suspension so hard it makes your fillings fall out.

Well the exhaust has to be driven in dynamic mode because I agree it’s not loud enough on auto.

For me the best thing on the car apart from the engine has to be the virtual dash. Everyone who has been in the car were saying how amazing it was and especially making the clocks small to move the sat nav onto the main screen. I have to say the sat nav set up is way too slow and a pain, but I will live with it.

Build quality is as expected and so far no squeaking brakes or ticking exhaust. Funny thing was my dealer said if you are going to use the brakes use them and if not don’t. He explained owners get more squeak issues if they coast to slow down whilst very lightly touching the brakes. Maybe that cause the build up of stuff on the discs which some owners say is better after jet washing?

Well my 25 year old son was so frustrated his insurance wouldn’t allow him to have a go, my nephews were off to tell their mates they had been out in a Supercar and my dad said I should leave the keys and get the train home.😁

Nice one mate, good to see you finally got it! Need some pictures?

I'm 2k miles in and haven't had brake squeel (yet...). The virtual dash was the selling point for me. Always the first thing to get comments when people get close enough to see inside the car. Gives it a really premium feel. Switch that exhaust into Dynamic and let it heat up to around high 80's - 90's and you'll get some gurgles, and some little one's on gear changes too, up and down.

Hi James

Have you had any rattles from the exhaust yet? Today for the first time on start up I got the rattle that sounded like a can of nails being shaken. I quickly flipped it to Dynamic and it stopped straight away. Once I had driven to the end of the road I put it back in individual and it had stopped.

Really weird that it would work for over 450 miles and then start doing it? I will see what happens tomorrow. I have noticed that on start up some times it is louder than others for some reason, always left in Individual. I'm not quite used to this yet.

Stu....

So, at last..... been meaning to catch up on your thread and can now see that after all this waiting, anticipation, excitement, planning, dreaming, worrying and general giddyness , it's finally with you!.

Congrats!

And as I see, it's been well worth it...so far so good.

It's so nice to see another like minded fella that's bought a Hyper Hatch to beat all the others, it does make one rather smug, and I still get that same smile after 18 months, every time I start it and people turn their heads, you know what we mean now!

Happy running in, the first launch beckons, unless you have got the counter off the mark already!
You will find that party trick beats the fancy dash any day when making your passengers go.....WTF ...while trying not to grin and whooop...

Keep the posts coming on your initial ownership thoughts and experiences with the car, and also other road users reactions, that's always worth a few good threads .....

Happy 5pot thrashing

Unfortunately so mate. I only get a rattle on start up regardless of what mode it's in for about 20 seconds or so. However as you pointed out, I also find if you quickly stick it in drive, flick it down to sport and tune the Audi D/S to Dynamic/Individual the sound stops quicker than the 20 seconds. It appears to me to only be on cold starts, and once the engine is warmed up, should you start the car again, the sound doesn't persist. Either way I love the car and although it's not ideal, it's manageable so I'm content to...as OMR said '5pot thrash' it for many years to come.

Hi T-800 - Yes I basically heard the can of nails and quickly changed it to Dynamic and it stopped straight away before even moving. Once I had got out of my road I put it into Individual with Dynamic exhaust and no noise at all. Well other than the great exhaust sound. I quite like the way you can be in individual and change to Dynamic by pulling the gearstick back.  :D

We are off to Corfe this weekend but taking the misses car due to the moaning it is too small for lots of kit. I am more than happy with this because it saves the moaning, dirt in my car and having to leave it in car parks. I am also waiting for locking wheel nuts to arrive and a date to get a tracker fitted.

Yes Stu that works

But I put it into Dynamic before I fire it up so I don’t get the noise at all...

Brilliant, saves waiting 20 seconds. I’ll just flick it down to Dynamic before starting the car & get the D/S cycle done first.

My neighbours are going to LOVE me. Delightfully devilish

430 miles in and I seemed to have a bit of vibration from the drivetrain and assumed it was the wheels. I took it to the garage to get the fitting of the wheels, spacers and spigots checked, along with the wheel balancing. The rears were spot on and the fronts were 10g out. Just took it down the motorway and cruising at 60+ and it's still there. This sucks because I'm going to have to swap all the wheels back to the standard ones to check if it's still present, as This will eliminate if it's the wheels and if it's something else at least it will be standard to take it back to Audi.

Today I took the car back to my local garage and put the original wheels back on and no vibration/wobble at all. I have now emailed Rimstyle and asked them if the can collect the front wheels and get them swapped with OZ for a pair that have the correct ET (as OZ stated they would fit without spacers). lets see what they come back with because I cannot be doing with the vibration/wobble.

I have read that these cars are fussy on wheel balancing and would like to know if anyone else has had any issues? Either way I can't settle for this at 490 miles and it is a worry that something with the spacer set up isn't correct. The last thing I want is stress on the bolts leading to them snapping.

What a shame Stu. But you are, right, not worth taking risk of vibration causing other faults. I'm disappointed with wheel company tho, you should not be having these issues. Makes me think to drive mine when I get it for a month or so before ordering the LDM091s from Prestige!! BTW, it's still not on the boat yet.

Well I will see what Rimstyle have to say tomorrow before I throw my teddies out the cot lol.

Good idea to wait to see you have any issues first before fitting new wheels.

I b t you can’t wait for it to get here and it will be worth the wait.😁

Stu I guess that Rimstyle have only dealt with Sportback RS3s before and that they may not have experienced the different offset of the saloon?

Vibration from the wheel could be a balance weight issue?

Hopefully you get it all sorted soon.

The annoying thing is the manufacturer said what wheel was required which was incorrect and Rimstyle just send what they were told. To be fair they were quick to sort the spacers, spigot and free licking wheel nuts.
After reading some of the thread on various forums I’m beginning to think the wider the poke the greater the chance of wobble from balancing & fine tolerances.

Well the ongoing saga of my wheel vibration should be getting sorted soon. It appears that using a combination of spacers, inserts and spigots is to blame for the vibration, especially after getting the front wheels balanced twice which made no difference. This is the response from Rimstyle:

So, we have instructed a CNC specialist local to us to custom machine 2 spacers for the front for you, 1 piece machined, with a 57.1mm inner bore all the way through, and a 75.0mm nose on the outer side, that will do away with the need for any spigot rings to the front wheels, with a spacer nose deeper to engage down deeper inside the bore of the OZ wheels. With this it will be impossible for vibration to remain. We will obviously cover this cost, and they should be complete within 5 – 7 working days, and were started this morning just after 11am.

You can't get a better response than that and at no point did they argue or even mention additional costs.  :D
