So I gave the car a right good clean today ant it looks like my exhaust tips are all pitted, not what I would expect as I thought the tips were stainless steel?

Anyone know warranty situation?

Common problem? I had 12k miles on mine, 15 plate... keep the carbon off them and they will stay shiny

Yes Common issue

The RS4/5/6 can suffer from it.

You can on the MK1 as they come off......

On the MK2 they seem to be fixed as part of the system.

11,500 miles but just seems to have happened overnight

I'd sort of expect it on Chrome but thought they were stainless steel. Why do car makers persist on using chrome on tips. Yes cost will come into effect but pitted chrome just looks garbage

See although autosol is a great product I think just a general all purpose cleaner and a good inch round brush is just as good to prevent any abrasive compound eating at the chrome. Pull them off and stick some ceramic coatings on them too to help cleaning next time round.

Yes common on other RS's too. I wonder if it is the unburnt fuel being thrown down the exhaust to create the pops that causes this.

WD 40, is the answer to clean tips.  A squirt and a wipe weekly will keep them in tip top condition
