Check the oil temp next time your giving it large & see how it changes ?
The make of oil is a personal preference but as long as it meets the VAG spec you cant go wrong .😊

I would only use 5/30 - 504/507 spec oil as recommended by VAG,as for running hotter the RS has a bigish oil cooler at the bottom of the front bumper which would come into play when running at high RPMs & high speeds.

Whats the one on the other side of the front bumper? Gearbox oil cooling perhaps?

Hi mate would i be correct in saying that the aux side rad is being used as an oil cooler as its connected via a water pipe from the oil/water heat exchange on the side of the oil filter mounting housing ?
Most VAG cars have this type of oil/water heat exchanger but not plummed into an aux rad ?

To me the 'whole' system is interconnected anyway.....T-800

However the smaller one does look as if it's a 'satellite' off the main Rad that connects onto the Gearbox cooler / Oil Cooler.

I presume Audi have fitted the 2nd rad to help control any additional heat that the extra BHP the MK2 may generate in the cooling & oil systems ?
In the past ive dumped the VAG oil to water cooler & fitted an Macal oil to air with great success in controlling the engine oil temp
