I can second everything Mike has highlighted about the 6; particularly to take care with the loud pedal. Zipping out a slip road onto dual carriageway or motorway will see triple figures in a heartbeat. They are completely different.
The 6 is physically big and hard to drive on some narrower lane roads. It is phenomenally quick in a straight line though. It is really nice inside and has some really nice touches. I love the electric tailgate, the dynamic indicators, the sweeping needles and LEDs, the steering moving up when I get in and out so it doesn't bash my fat gut, the illuminated RS sills in the back as well as front, the alcantara trim, the blue stitching, the illuminated interior (along door trims and thigh pads), the matrix LEDs etc. the matrix LEDs are worth an extra mention as they work really well. If anyone doesn't know what they are, they are like your LEDs but when you put the main beams on it will light up the whole road as normal but as you approach a car in front it will just dip the lights around that car so you don't blind him but will still light up the rest of the road, the same if a car is coming towards you. When driving on unlit roads you can really see it working and it's amazing.
But it's all about the speed, it's instant and brutal when you floor it, but will happily pootle around the rest of the time even in S mode. Unlike the 3 or the 4 I can't put my foot down at any time, you really need to be careful with it and think about it before flooring it. And when you do floor it you can only do it for a few seconds at a time otherwise you will be well over the speed limit.
The 3 on the other hand can be driven harder ie foot down for longer and more often without fear of getting caught out, it stops quicker and goes round bends easily. The weight difference is really apparent when changing direction. It corners flatter and a lot more naturally.
It's fast but not as brutal in straight lines, pretty sure a race could go either way depending on the balance between straights and bends.

But it is a fantastic car. I just wish the speed limit was a bit higher so I can floor it properly. I'm building confidence / testing limits with it too. It's been very wet when I've been out in it, so I have been conscious that I can't floor it through the bends like I can with the 4 as it has so much more power and is doing a much higher speed at any given point. I was out in the 4 this week while the 6 was being detailed and it reminded me how easy it is to throw it around and just inspires confidence so easily you just can't help going faster and faster round bends. I'm not at that point with the 6 yet, you can feel its weight when cornering and braking, but that weight disadvantage just seems to disappear when accelerating as it does so so ferociously and with such ease. This engine in the 4 would be amazing! But I'm enjoying the extra load space, it's a bit of a novelty coming from years of saloons and coupes.
And it does long distance travels without breaking a sweat. With all the toys like adaptive cruise and active lane assist it makes it even easier.

I had the centre resonators and some other boxes that I thought might be secondary cats but turned out to be empty boxes removed from the exhaust system today. Big improvement. Sounds like it should have done when it left the factory now. I still have the exhaust valves disconnected but it is not overly noisy and no drone so far.
I also took it down to MRC for a dyno run to see what the actual output of these cars are.
The normal RS6 has a manufacturers figure of 560ps. These are commonly tested around the 580ps mark.
My car is quoted as 605ps. So I was wondering whether my car was actually 605ps or if like the other cars, it was underrated...
First dyno run came in at 605.5 ps. The next peaked at just under 612ps. I guess that answers my question then.
The torque was massively over the quoted figures though. Audi claim 700Nm with an over boost function to give up to 750Nm. Mine came in at 888Nm. Wowzers! That's nearly 900Nm from a standard car (exhaust mods add no power, just sound),

Supposedly VAG quote figures relating to higher altitudes and temperatures (both of which sap performance) so people don't feel they've been ripped off. And us people in temperate low lands reap the benefits of that...The normal RS6 has a manufacturers figure of 560ps. These are commonly tested around the 580ps mark.
