It's a pretty straight forward install

Have one side done so far

Just remove disc and caliper, and bolt new disc and caliper bracket back on - the kit is supplied with all bolts and the rub ring to fit on back of rotor

You don't have to remove the brake shields, they just clear the back of the disc, but it's only by a couple mm and you could get rocks lodged between disc and backing plate

But I have chosen to remove the backing plates on all 4 corners to get better cooling - I don't drive on gravel or snow

Did you replace the brake pads?

Not on back. I replaced my front pads with new oem pads. Vandit supplied me brembo branded pads at 1/4 price of oem - the wear indicator plug was different so I just cut and soldered on a spare plug my installer had

I would have done with new discs particularly as they are pretty cheap.

Guess they just faced up your old ones then.

The waiting time is a pain but once you seen it mounted, you forget it all.

I've only done 8k kms on the oem front rotors, so we just machined them lightly - there was no noticeable grooving or lip to the touch. My oem pads were crumbling and brittle

I wasn't prepared to spend 2k on new fronts not knowing if this was indeed a fix. The pads were cheap enough to give a shot and get the car useable again. If I get same brake issues again I'll either just sell off the car and move on or get an oem ceramic rotor + pad kit from vandit

I change my daily drivers every 2 years so will depend on timing when/if it happens as to which way ill go

Sorry domino I was referring to the rear pads not front. It is good practice to fit new pads with new discs.

There's hardly any pad wear on rear at this mileage

Yes, But unfortunately my car is constantly going into the dealers and they are being very fussy about "modifications" so I would rather leave it standard for the moment.

Can't beat the standard setup
And having a warranty of course.

Especially for something that only adds visual looks.

I really want to see an oficial statement from Audi avoiding warranty from a non-related rear brake issue due to RS7 rear discs. By adding RS7 rear discs you are actually solving the rust issue from stock setup with Audi OEM parts.

Same as avoiding engine warranty because you have different tires brand from factory.

I know folks that was my understanding on the whole warranty issue, however my dealer uses any modifications as a reason to void fixing the care under warranty even down to gloss black badges.....

Your dealer policy is wrong and don't deserve your money. Find another dealer

Nah they definitely are, brake setup looks proper now that all evidence of dire a3 rear disc cost cutting has been removed
