For sure, I'll defo set a meet up (you know, in 8 months or something!!)

Someone just traded a mk1 in to Poole Audi - only 11k on the clock and a lovely spec. I nearly bought that on Saturday for the instant satisfaction rather than order the new one!

Just out of interest what colour was the one in Poole ?

I sometimes still not sure about the colour of mine and have considered a like-for-like swap at some point just so long as I can get the buckets and extended warranty that I do really like about my car !!

I have to ask about the spec....is hill assist not a std function of the DSG box, does it have to be requested ?

I love the yellow S1.......it looks so funky compared to the RS

The hold assist option on the RS3 is not just for hills, it holds the car stationary indefinitely until you blip the throttle - there is a little 'A' button next to the electronic 'P' brake lever.

In contrast the hill hold on my S1 (a £65 option still!), only works on an incline and only holds you for 3 seconds and you can't turn it off - enough time to get from brake to throttle basically.

I had the 'RS3 version' on my SQ5 and it's much better than the 'S1 version', but even with it off, the 'auto' nature of the STronic will allow you to pull away up a hill if you easy slowly off the brake giving the car a chance to take up the weight with the clutch for you.

Another new RS owner, Welcome!

I have hill hold in the RS4 and tbh never use it although the wife does.

For £60 though it was a no brainer not to spec it.

I think a meet up is a great idea - all I need now is the car!

Yeh it's the same on my M3 and on my RS3 the three second hold.....I wasn't aware that the Mrs' hill assist on her A3 manual was different as I've not driven it or that you could have a more comprehensive hold as an option
I thought on a manual it was just to avoid clutch holding

I do not like the Audi electronic handbrake though, I don't see the point, it has a mind of its own is really annoying and will be be no fun in the wet or winter lol

Once I got the hang of never touching the P lever in my SQ5 as it would apply/disengage as required I liked it. You just have to forget all that you have engrained about using the handbrake for X years!

I agree about fun in the winter though - hopefully the new RS3 rear drive bias will make up for it!

I've had the hold assist in my A7 for 3yrs - standard kit on that one - never used it

Well I have to say, that I am really enjoying being a member of this forum - far more informative that I expected, and a lot less 'self opinionated' that other forums I could mention!

Welcome Woodstock25
We are generally a nice group of people I'd say.

One or two think they know it all but you'll get that on most forums

Yeh you get good advice and opinions on here without been made to feel a prick for asking
I got a few honest thoughts on colour choices but then I did ask the question
