Sounds like good stuff... Keep us posted on how they bed in. Have you kept standard discs then?

Yes, have kept original discs, they were in surprisingly good condition. Although they have not had much wear since kindly being replaced by Audi!

Cheers

Looking good so far then Gibbo  :)   Were you able to reconnect the pad wear sensors?

I spoke to the technical manager at EBC who explained that the yellow stuff pads were better than the red stuff and so they never offered the red stuff in the UK as a replacement front pad. Quote was what is the point when they are so similar except that the yellow stuff are slightly better. He explained you can get a rear pad in red stuff to fit and there is a front that will work but not specifically for the RS3. Actually said that the one people are using was a few mm longer and might cause additional brake squeal?
Just had yellow stuff fitted on mine front and rear so will see if the braking improves!

Also they don't make replacement front discs as not geared up for this type of design

Cheers

I followed the link you kindly provided in a later post Gibbo, and it seems EBC are now listing a replacement Redstuff front pad specifically for the RS3 - and it has the same dimensions as the Yellowstuff pad??  Confusion reigns.......

They have listed a Redstuff pad for the RS 3 for ages but it doesn't exist yet..... the ones i used are DP31210C for the fronts and DP31518C for the rears.

Speaking to EBC it seems although they list red and yellow, the yellow are specific fit for RS3. Not sure if you can get red however seem to think in a previous post some had said that EBC had said that as yellow was superior they weren't doing redstuff or words to that effect.

Just to add been out this lunchtime and although not fully bedded in, they are mighty impressive compared to OEM.

Touch wood no squeaking either!

EBC part no DP32070C are for the TTRS, available in the US and are listed as coming soon on many UK websites. EBC list these as compatible with the RS3 but they are not sold in the UK. I have a colleague travelling to the US in a couple of weeks who will hopefully be bringing me a set back to save the €60 shipping. I have been told they will work with the Audi wear sensors.

Afternoon

Just a very quick update, pads now fully bedded in, and after a "spirited" run (as describe by a local unmarked :police2:  on being pulled over) the pads work great and give you a lot of confidence in the cars braking ability. Makes you realise how **** the original pads were!

As previously mentioned if you're interested ring EBC direct I spoke to a Graham very helpful and will do you the best price possible, and no I don't work for them B)

A set of the correct RedStuff pads DP32070C arrived for the RS3 today. Looks a pretty comprehensive kit, slotted and chamfered pads, shim kit and caliper lube included. Look to be compatitable with the Audi wear sensors (have the cutout in the pad).

Made in the UK only sold in the US they I pay to ship them back go figure ...Attached File  image.jpg   48.58K   14 downloads

That is just so bizarre - made in the UK but not available here, shipped to and sold in USA for a car which is not available in the USA?? I need to go back to bed......

Good to see some positive stuff about brake pads, my car had the recall done 4k miles ago and we're back to square one - but without the squealing.

New problem - it's like braking on a grinding wheel. If you know what I mean. Rough and vibratory.

So yesterday I took the car to Audi for a look. After over an hour of "testing" we're no further forward so it's going in again in 2 weeks for a proper check. The car still stops but it's horrible doing it. You'd think it might be rusty discs? they're almost new so that's not really on the checklist.

If it wasn't under warranty I'd go straight to EBC pads but since it's Audi's money I'm prepared to put up with a little inconvenience. For now.

The list of post-warranty upgrades is growing.

Does anyone think it might be handy to do a poll to discover the best set or sets of upgrades? We could create a shopping list and make it easier than trawling the forum.

The plot thickens !!
Rang EBC just now regarding these
Turns out they are made in the usa !!

James the guy I spoke to says they have a couple of manufacturing plants out there.
They don't stock that part number over here.

Only one in the UK is the yellow stuff version.

I've emailed him a picture as he is curious.

Told him I've no problems using the Evo Redstuff pads.

Interesting as you can see it clearly says made in England and RS3 on the box.

The EVO RedStuff pads aren't compatitable with the wear sensor. I have heard of people having warranty work refused for bypassing the wear sensor. I am not prepared to do this given my brakes have had to be replaced about 6 times under warranty!

More info

EBC just rang me

The ones Jmcnamee98 has bought are as he says only for the American market, EBC have NO interest in making them available here in the UK, even though they are made here in the UK.......daft as its seems.

Speaking to them about my current Evo Redstuff setup, he did say (as I already knew) that the yellow stuff pads are better for the RS3, they are officially listed for our cars here in the UK.
He also said out of the range of pads that the Redstuff are the hardest pad because of the ceramic content in the pad material.
The yellowstuff pads contain Kevlar apparently.

After a lengthy discussion with EBC today, I've just ordered a full set of Yellowstuff for front & rear.

I'll probably go yellow stuff as well TBH as its what I used previous on fast Audi's and they were great. I appreciate there is more dust with them but isn't any more then the OEM set up and the temperature range is far better

For me it's to cure another issue I have with the Redstuff.
